James A. Baker, PhD. is a graduate of The Institute for Mediation with certification in Basic Mediation and Advanced Family Mediation and is a full time mediator.

His practice is located in the Greenway Mediation Center, Houston, Texas. James brings over 40 years of management experience in business and education to the mediation table, including positions as Executive Vice President, Vice President, CFO, and Dean.

James A. Baker holds a Ph.D. in Education from Capella University in Minnesota, a Master of Education from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas, Post-graduate work at St. Thomas University in Houston, Texas and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from University of Houston Downtown.

James proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Through approximately 500 mediations, James has extensive experience in conflict resolution including: all areas of personal injury, commercial vehicle/auto accidents, contract disputes, labor union contract negotiations, construction disputes, insurance claims, personnel issues, homeowner association conflicts, foreclosures, oil related issues, conflict resolution among executives/partnerships/owners, and a host of unusual conflict situations. He has many years of experience in divorce conflict resolution.

His hands-on experience, coupled with his higher education leadership roles and negotiations, proved invaluable in preparing James to serve as a mediator/negotiator in a myriad of different conflict situations ending in settlement. 

James excels in serving as a neutral and takes pride in his skills in identifying and resolving the root causes/motivations of conflict. He also brings extreme talents in working with parties for diverse cultures.
